NOTICE

This notice is to advise parents of the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (SBESE) policy regarding the transfer of nonpublic and home schooling students to the public school system.

Students who wish to transfer to grades 5 and 9 in the public school system from any in-  state or any home schooling program, or any Louisiana resident transferring from any out-of-state school shall be required to take the 4^th or 8^th grade LEAP English Language Arts and Mathematics tests.  Fourth and Eighth grade students must score Basic or above on either the LEAP English Language Arts test or the LEAP Mathematics test and Approaching Basic or above on the other one. 

Students may take the LEAP tests at either the Spring Phase 1 (March 19, 2013), Phase 2 (April 8 – 12, 2013) or summer (June 25 – 28, 2013) administration prior to enrollment.  Parents are to contact the principal at the respective school of attendance by March 7, 2013 to register their child for the tests.  For further information, please contact the Department of Education LEAP toll free assistance line at 1-877-453-2721.
