The purpose of special populations services is to assist students who have learning problems, adjustment problems, or other special needs by providing services to students, parents, teachers, and other school personnel.

The Special Populations Department also oversees the students in Section 504, and Gifted and Talented programs. In the 2023-2024 school year, 491 students participated in the program throughout our 10 schools. The Concordia Parish School Board Special Population Department employs 19 specialized educators and program managers, and multiple school-level personnel for each school. The mission of the Special Populations Department is to assist students who have learning problems, adjustment problems, or other special needs by providing services to students, parents, teachers, and other school personnel.

All students in public school systems in the United States are obligated to provide fair and equitable educational instruction and opportunities. Students with special needs may need additional support to achieve their academic potential and long term goals.
